Duties as elder :  Preaching, leading a missional community, training up and discipling leaders, counseling, casting and protecting the vision of Kaleo Church El Cajon, and planting Kaleo Church in El Cajon.

Pulpit :  Saturday nights in El Cajon, Friday night missional community, most days of the week in Starbucks on Main and Magnolia.

Wisdom/bit of advise/quote :  Give your life to knowing Jesus, the only one who can truly satisfy.  Seek him with all that you have, for in finding him you find life.  “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.  Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.  For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith…” (Philippians 3:7-9).

Wife : Abbey.  I praise God for the gift of a sensitive loving wife who passionately loves the Gospel.  She is an example to me of what it means to be thirsty for our savior and to find no rest until we find it in him alone.

Children :  We don’t have any children yet.

Education : B.A. in pastoral studies from Moody Bible Institute and a M.A. in Bible from Westminster Theological Seminary West in Escondido California.

Hope and Vision for Kaleo : That Kaleo would be a Christ-treasuring community, formed by the Gospel and sent on mission to the world through the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God.

How you got involved with Kaleo :  For the last 3 years God has given me a passion to plant a church.  This passion drove me to Acts 29 and through them I met Dave Fairchild at a lunch meeting.  I loved the vision for planting churches throughout San Diego and began to talk with him about church planting.  Over the next 1 ½ years we talked often about church planting and I prepared to plant a church with Kaleo in El Cajon.  During this time I spent 1 year in Minneapolis working with John Piper and Bethlehem Baptist learning from them and clarifiying the vision for the plant in El Cajon.  In January of 2009 I returned to El Cajon and have been working with Kaleo on the church plant full time since then.

A few of my favorite things : I love my wife Abbey, my family, preaching, and most importantly the one I preach about, Jesus.  I love counseling and seeing people find joy and satisfaction in the midst of their suffering through the power of the Gospel.  I love writing and dreaming and casting vision.  I love sports, both playing and cheering for every team that comes out of Chicago (except the White Sox).
