Becoming What We Worship
Series: Ephesians
Paul’s purpose for this letter to the Ephesians is identity formation. Paul wants our identity formed around Christ and His Gospel. He realizes the only way for us to see who we are is for us to first to see who our God is. It’s not just a sin that keeps us from worshiping God; it’s the competing worship of something else. He realizes that we become what we worship, for ruin or restoration. Paul helps combat our idols by fixing our eyes on Christ so that we are filled with the beauty of our God.
