Nehemiah 9 is about the greatness of our God. Tragically, throughout history this great and awesome God has been ignored and rebelled against by the people he has so deeply loved. And yet we find that he is the God of the nevertheless. Every time his people turn against him, nevertheless he is a gracious and merciful God who stands ready to forgive them and pour out his mercy on them. In fact, his grace is highlighted as he chooses to paint it on the canvas of ungrateful sinners. Today, we, like the Israelites, often lose sight of God and are not mindful of the wonders he has performed for his people through the sacrifice of his only Son, Jesus. However, God has not changed. He is from everlasting to everlasting and he is the God of the nevertheless. Whatever sin, whatever failure, however awful, his grace is greater. He is the God who sent his only Son to die so that he could save sinners, and now he calls us all to look upon him and find forgiveness for our sins.
